Good morning,
I'd like to know if it is possibile to upgrade an Asus X53SC (the one with GT 520M) which has socket HM65 from pentium B950 to an i7 2760QM. Socket looks the same and I'm quite sure that heat will not be a problem. Are there any reasons to think that it won0t be compatibile or I can upgrade?
Thanks for your help.

I actually just attempted this yesterday. Hp pavilion g7 1279dx, 1671 board, hm65 chipset, Pentium B950 processor, 4gb ddr3-1333 to start. I switched to i7-2760qm, kingston hyperx impact ddr3l-1600 2x4gb, artic 5 thermal paste. I originally ran a Windows assessment for factory parts and scored a 4.6. After installing the new cpu and ram I averaged a 5.9 with processing at 7.7, I need an ssd haha. Average thermals with turbo boost has been 41-43 at idle 87-89 at 99.9-100% load for 15 mins. I haven't had time to test any further yet. This is my first upgrade to any pc, there's a noticeable difference in performance even with the hdd. I bought used and new parts on ebay, $92.73 with shipping for used cpu, new ram and paste.
