Hi,

My laptop is an Acer Nitro AN515-52 with 8GB RAM. I’m trying to upgrade by adding another 8GB stick (for a total of 16GB).

I bought a Crucial 8GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM module, which is similar and compatible.

However, when I installed the new RAM, the screen stayed black and the laptop wouldn’t boot. I tried swapping slots and also installing the new RAM alone, but the issue remains. (I’m sure the installation was done correctly.)

It only boots when I use the old RAM alone.

I’d appreciate your support in finding a solution to this issue.

Using the older stick of ram, log in to the www to get onto Acer's support site for your laptop(with the aide of your laptop's serial number on the bottom of the laptop) and check to see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates.

So the stick of ram that came with your laptop is identical tot he one you purchased later on?

Tell you what? Pass on images of both sticks of ram side by side, host your image on a site akin to Imgur and then pass on a link for us to see. Taking a picture of both sides of the sticks of ram would be a good idea.

Crucial does not show a 8GB/2666 ram stick for that pc.

Perhaps go to the crucial site and run their scanner see what it shows.

It has similar specs to the one installed in the laptop. I also checked compatibility on Crucial’s website, and Kingston lists RAM with the same specs as compatible with my laptop. See the pics below.

Show a screenshot from the crucial scanner that shows the ram you bought is compatible.
