I believe this card is equivalent to a GTX 660, and I'm looking for an upgrade. I was thinking the 1060, as I can't find any 970 cards anywhere and the used ones have probably been used for mining or something. I game in 1080p and have an i7 4790k processor with 16GB RAM. Can someone suggest to me a sub $500 upgrade in canadian dollars that will last me at least 2 generations of gfx cards like my current one has. I would like to play games like Arkham Knight and Playerunknown Battlegrounds. Thanks.

Well I really would not overspend on the GTX 1060. Even with the conversion, spending more than $390 for a GTX 1060 is overkill, and you should be looking into a higher tier. As you are already aware, trying to get a decent card for a decent price isn't the best. You can play those games with a GTX 1050 Ti, but the settings will have be tuned down.

Is the R9 270 not delivering enough for you? Is there a reason you want to upgrade?

to be honest, that kind of budget u rather save a little more and get 1070, since 1060 and RX 580 are really overpriced / out of stock thanks to mining fever

for the games that u want to play, 1050Ti is already good enough for low-med@1080p, mainstream games like CSGO or Dota can be maxed out though, the price is pretty cheap too, bout ~150$

There's a couple options from Nvidia:
GTX 980 ti, GTX 1060, GTX 980, GTX 690, GTX 970, GTX 680, GTX 960

These are ranked from fastest to slowest. If you want me to look for some more, I can list a couple more.
You can also look for the first gen titan, but it's not as fast as the 980 ti

The R9 270 delivers like 90% of what I need except its playing in the lowest settings for Arkham Knight. Battlefront, DOTA 2, League, they all play on Ultra so I'm content there.

So you're saying that these cards are overpriced? I was thinking it was weird I couldn't find better performance in the $300 range, are the 1070s worth what they're priced for then?

I don't think I'd get the 1050Ti, it's too close to my current performance to justify an upgrade.

Based off the exchange rate, paying $390 or more for a GTX 1060 is just a bit too much. Again, don't know the what it's like up there. But for USD prices, If you are paying more than $450 for a GTX 1070 that is a problem. If you can find one for $500 CAD, I would imagine that is a steal.

Call me a cheap S.O.B., but given how overpriced most cards are right now, I'd refuse to upgrade until the prices come back to reality.

So far only the low end and high end Nvidia cards appear to have escaped the cryptomining-induced insanity.

Haha I hear ya
