Hello everyone,
I have a dell server with perc 6i raid controller. the server was purchased refurbished and came with 6 2tb sata drives. I configured the controller to have 3 drives each containing 2 drives mirrored. I have purchased 6 2tb sas drives I hope to swap the satas with, my initial plan was to do hot swaps one at a time but then learned that you cannot mix sas and sata in a group. So I have made a Macrium image of the machine and plan to swap all drives and restore the image. Do I need to clear the config and recreate with the sas drives or will the system accept the sas drives in the current config? is there anything else I need to worry about before doing this swap?
Thank you!!

Solution
Since you have three 2TB volumes. Why wouldn't you do one volume at a time. Backup the volume. Then create a new 2TB SAS RAID1 volume and restore the data. Start with the least important volume on the host. That way you "practice" on the least critical data.
