Upgrade GPU or CPU?

Hi there,

OK so I'm looking to upgrade to a GTX 1070 from my GTX 970 but at the same time I also have an I5 6400 and I don't know if I should upgrade that before getting a 1070. If I was to upgrade my CPU I would get an I7 6700 (non k). I'm just wandering which one will give me more of a performance boost in games like PUBG, Rust, Killing Floor 2 and possibly Battlefront 2 when i get that. I will eventually get both upgrades but one will have to wait until I get more money. Also will an I5 6400 bottleneck a 1070? I'm only playing in 1080p for now until I get a 1440p monitor so I don't think it will a lot but am i wrong? If it will be a noticeable bottleneck then I will gladly get a I7 6700 before the 1070, I just want to know which one i should get first.

the i5 6400 + 1070 might bottleneck in CPU intensive case

seeing your target resolution though, i would suggest u get a CPU upgrade first, PUBG and Rust had a big world which means the burden on CPU is pretty intense (in a way), the GTX 970 is still decent enough for 1080p so CPU is the way to go imo XD

u can get the 1070 / 1080 later on along with the new 1440p monitor
