I have a HP Model 14t-bs000 laptop, which is a super cheap piece. It has only 30gb 'hard drive' and 4 gb ram.
The 30gb of space is too low to be useful considering I need more than that just to have updated windows 10.
I want to upgrade the Ram which is currently a 4GB 1Rx8 PC3L - 12800S-11-13-B4 (Samsung KONL0007492151CEC3)
Is there a compatible chip that is 8GB? There is only one RAM slot so I have to get a bigger, compatible chip.
There is no Hard drive I can see on this thing but it appears there is a spot for one. It is not a SATA connection, I can't tell what it is.

I just don't know what to order. I am pretty sure I would get the wrong stuff.<

the connection to the right on the second picture is a standard SATA 2.5" HDD port
eventually you will need a HDD/SSD bracket to install it into the laptop
Hard drive bracket

SSD bracket: 925355-001

RAM: Which CPU are you using?

Intel® Celeron® Processor N3060 x2

what is the connection to the left called? It looks like a place for a CD bay. Could I put one of those in?

Would this RAM work?

Unfortunately Convena.com does not ship to me here in the US. I will try to find the piece elsewhere? =(

Is it possible the HDD I eventually get comes with a bracket or is this not standard practice?

When looking at brackets, I found plenty of 2.5 to 3.5 kits which makes it sound like a kit to put a 2.5 into a 3.5 spot. This laptop does not have a 3.5 spot to fill so it would have to be a straight 2.5 bracket. There is a metal "bracket" that was there but it has a metal tab in the center and no screw holes so I think it was just a place holder for weight and support.

you will need 8GB DDR3L-1600 S0Dimm (low voltage up to 1,35Volt)
DDR4 and DDR3 with 1.5V will not work)

any of these should work

this laptop needs a specific bracket that fits into this exact HP laptop model. The HDD won´t provide such a bracket in the package. Usually only a 7mm to 9.5mm one. But you can try installing it without a bracket and see if it holds in place.
Better get a SATA SSD though. Would improve performance very much, e.g. Crucial MX500 2.5"

Yes, you could install a DVD drive there.

OK, so I got a HDD and CD-ROM drive installed, everything fits nice and snug and I buttoned it up.

Now my problem is that the things I installed are not recognized at all, no power, nor listed in the computer's list of hardware. So despite ports being available to plug all this stuff in, they aren't active or available.

Why not? The hardware seems there. So is it a update of some kind? Windows 10 Home 64 bit is now fully installed and working fine. Automatic updates did nothing to help so I am guessing these things are disabled at the factory level? =(
