My laptop is Sony Vaio VPCEB36FG, it came with Intel® Core™ i3-370M Processor (3M cache, 2.40 GHz) 1st Gen.

I have option of Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.90 GHz) 2nd Gen AND Intel® Core™ i5-4200U Processor
(3M Cache, up to 2.60 GHz) 4th Gen.

Can i upgrade mine processor with any of these?

I checked ark.intel.com but dont know what to see.

You MAY be able to upgrade to another PGA988 cpu (first generation i5 or i7), assuming yours is not soldered to the motherboard. You are gambling as to whether or not the BIOS will recognize it. If you do choose to try, ensure that you have the latest BIOS installed before the switch.

A quick search did not find anyone who had successfully upgraded the cpu on that laptop. If you do a more comprehensive search, you may find someone who has (or had tried and failed).

Your motherboard uses Socket G1 (also called rPGA 988A), as far as I can gather, and there's a fair chance it will accept other socket G1 CPUs. Neither i5 will fit into your motherboard's socket.

Taken from Wikipedia, here is a list of CPUs you might consider trying:

Intel Core i5 Dual-Core: i5-430M, i5-450M, i5-460M, i5-480M, i5-520M, i5-540M, i5-560M, i5-580M
Intel Core i7 Dual-Core: i7-620M, i7-640M
Intel Core i7 Quad-Core: i7-720QM, i7-740QM, i7-820QM, i7-840QM,[3] i7-920XM, i7-940XM

The i7 dual cores will probably work (and would be a small upgrade), but the i7 quad cores put out a lot more heat and will likely overheat in a system not designed for them.
