Hi community,

I have Qosmio X500 and I was wondering if I can upgrade my processor, since the one installed isn't the best to do multiple and fast tasks :

my notebook specs are as follow:
CPU : Intel core i7 Q 720 @ 1.60GHz <---- this is what i intend to upgrade

physical memory : 8 GB
HD capacity : 2 TB
VGA : Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M
mother board : Intel 5 /3400 series chipset family PCI
Bios : V 2.90

any help will do !!! Thanksss

Hi Snideapollo, as I have posted before:

I'll come out and say that changing your laptop CPU honestly isn't worth it.

I'd instead recommend you upgrade to an SSD, as that actually improves performance which you can notice on a day to day basis, which you can carry onto other systems as well.

If you happen to move your laptop all the time, and need durability I'd than recommend an Intel SSD, as they have a great reputation of reliability. If your looking for value, look into Kingston, Samsung, or Crucial SSDs. Looking for a fast SSD? Look in to the Samsung Pro series.

There is another qosmio x500 model which have an i7 820QM.Is this the processor that your are looking to upgrade to?i know someone with a qosmio x505 upgrade from a 720qm to a 920xm but end up overheating.

My processor is i7 Q720!

As PCDave said, upgrading your CPU is not worth it. Was your computer slow when you first bought it? Probably not. Your CPU hasn't changed, but over time your hard drive slows down, slowing your computer down a lot. So getting an SSD would be much more worth it than a new CPU
