Im wondering whether it's worth upgrading my system or buying a new one entirely. This is my current system

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Gigabyte INTEL LGA1151 H170
8GB RAM
620W PSU

I don't need to buy monitors or storage. I want a system that can play new games on high/max at 1080p and hopefully 144hz. I need a new case and ideally I want the computer to be as quiet as possible as long as it doesnt affect performance too much. I can spend up to £1000 but I'd like to spend less if possible. I live in the UK.

I don't really know much about computers so I appreciate any help!

Use Storage and Case from previous build. This combo will last you over longer period of time.

no no no none of dis intel crap (not a hater) but 4 ur system go for ryzen 2600 or 2600x thats much better performance rn the best chip on the market 4 a build like urs

All depends on how much money you want to spend.
Just changing your GPU would make a huge difference, as the 1060 is an OK card, but you can't max out performance with what you want
Anything like a 2060 or better will be pretty close to 144hz @ 1080p
