Hi guys!
My rig is:
CPU: Intel 2500K
MB: Asus P8P67 Pro
GPU: MSI GTX 970
Memory: 2x4GB Gskill 1600
Monitor: Dell S2417DG 144HZ G-Sync

Is there any chance of prolonging the life of this pc(exluding monitor of course) by upgrading something or it's time for a new one?

You could get a used i7-4790k, which is the best chip that uses DDR3 RAM and still is a solid processor for 1080P and even 1440P gaming. If you are filling up that 8GB of RAM in any games then buy a 16GB kit. The 970 is still solid so upgrading to a 1060 wouldnt be a huge improvement but if you see a 1070, 1070ti or 1080 for a good price that would be a big boost. Or you could try and find a used 980 or 980ti.

If you have not yet overclocked, you can get some 25% better performance oout of the cpu. A free thing to try.

If you are graphics limited, you could buy a stronger graphics card.
A new card can be carried forward to a new build.
To get some idea of now capable your cpu is now.
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Simply adding another 2 x 4gb might help, but proper operation of disparate sticks is not guaranteed.
I would save 16gb for the next build.
