Upgrade or not to i7 4770k for Prepar 3d v2.2?

I actually have an i5 2500k at 4ghz but i am not very satisfied with it performance in prepar 3d v2.2 i am getting like 18 - 22 fps in the pdmg 737 in Dubai with high settings(note that i have also aplied some tweaks to the game). What i want to know is if an i7 4770k will be able to hold over 30 fps in this type of situations and how much extra performance will i get over the i5 2500k. Considering this i will take my decision if i upgrade my cpu or not. Just to add, i have a gtx670.

Any type of information will be very helpful

I would think it's more your video card than the processor....

Have a look using CPU-Z and GPU-Z and see which one shows the highest utilization when you're playing.

The thing is that simulation games like fsx and prepar 3d use a lot more cpu power that gpu power (its like 90% CPU and 10% GPU) so i want to know if i am going to have a significant encrease in this two games when changing the i5 2500k for the i7 4770k.

Do you know if those game use multi-threaded design or are they single-threaded?

I'm sorry, not deliberately playing 20 questions, but I'm considering alternatives. Are these games also RAM-intensive or do they have small working sets?

The short answer is that the i7-4770 will play them better than the i5-2500K, but there may be a few alternatives. The new i7 4790K(Devil's Canyon) is substantially faster, for instance, and then there are the Xeon CPUs - some low-priced ones are in the range of the i7 CPUs.

Also next month Intel will announce the Haswell-E CPUs that will run on DDR4 memory and we all have high hopes for them. THere will also be 6- and-8 core versions. which may imply a significant boost for what you want.
