I'm trying to decide if it is worth upgrading my existing pc, or if I should start over.
The pc will be mainly for gaming and movies.
my budget for a new pc would be around $600, I'm only new to this so any help would be appreciated

The pc I have now has an i7 970 with 8gb of ram
MSI x58 pro-e motherboard
GTX 750 ti gpu
and 500gb HDD

thanks

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what the GTX 1060 will do with that ageing platform. The 6C/12T processor still has potential. I have the Xeon version of that CPU (Xeon W3670) on an Asus P6T motherboard and 12GB 1600MHz RAM. After adding the Evga GTX 1060 6GB my Firestrike score is 10,991. My Timespy score is 4248. I was able to OC it for even higher scores. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the stability of my OC.
