upgrade power supply

Hello,

I have a Dell Optiplex 380 MT with Core 2 Wuad Q9650, 8GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GT
1030.

Currently using the normal dell power supply 255W.

Please suggest a recommended power supply for the specs i mentioned above mostly watts of 400 to 600. Budget around $50 to $70.

AS long as you keep using the GT 1030, your tiny 255W Dell PSU is fine. The GT 1030 is only a 30W (TDP) card. If you are looking to upgrade because you want to change to a faster gfx card, let us know what card you have in mind.

The 255W PSU was just a high efficiency replacement for the old Dell Optiplex 305W PSU. That was from the days of 130W Pentium D CPUs.
You can go up to a ZOTAC GTX1050Ti Mini in that system. My 255W was DOA so I just stuck an Optiplex 305W in it.

I would put the money towards a ZOTAC GTX1050 Mini 2GB. (I mean it about ZOTAC/ Mini, others won't fit.)
If you're considering a 120W Xeon swap thewn the 305 would probably be a good idea.
Any GPU that requires a bigger PSU will require modding to fit in that.

just want to upgrade my power supply also since i have upgraded almost everything in my pc.

just want to know what power supply will be good according to my pc specs minimum 400w to 600w i can afford $50 - $70

Everything points towards the Optiplex 380 Mini-Tower as using a small form factor psu (SFX), this is about as good as it gets in your price range.

Considering Dells usage of proprietary connectors like P10 and P4, as auxiliary power connections on the motherboard, you might also need an adapter to make aftermarket psus work on that mobo.

I have seen it mostly everywhere that the Dell optiplex 380 mt can use also ATX.

i would like some suggestions on ATX ones and which i can buy from ebay.mu since i can't use amazon

The Mini Towers can use ATX PSUs. Be sure the power on the 5V. rail is equal to what's on the label of your old one. The BTX used more 5V. than newer systems. EVGA is pretty good about that. I wouldn't get anything under about 500W. Ther are a couple metal tabs in the top of the Dell case. you can just push them in. Ther are various PSU hierarchy charts. These are produced by people who have the equipment to test PSUs.

Dell PSUs are quality parts. It's very easy to down grade there.
