I recently purchased a new Lenovo laptop with a Ryzen 7 5700U processor. The laptop runs fantastic with Linux Mint 20.
The laptop has 12GB (4GB soldered + 8GB SO-DIMM). Since RAM is pretty cheap right now, I can get a 32GB DDR4 3200 stick for $110. A 16GB stick is $60.
My question, since the laptop is already mixing RAM sizes, would having 32GB + 4GB any worse than 8GB + 4GB?
Thanks.
Here is a dmidecode from my laptop.

SMBIOS 3.3.0 present.
# SMBIOS implementations newer than version 3.2.0 are not
