Upgrade to a better GPU

I would like to upgrade my GPU. Right now i have these specs:
intel i7 4790 3.60GHz
r9 270x 2gb
8gb ram
128 gb ssd + 2tb hdd
1080p monitor

I want to know what the best upgrade is. I was thinking maybe a gtx 960? Can i have some advise please. Thanks a lot
