I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 ultimate edition.

At the moment I have one main drive 1tb hdd with windows 7 installed on it with all my files and data.

However I would like to have windows 10 installed and boot up from a new ssd. And have the hdd as my second drive.

NOTES:
I don't want to duel boot. Just want two drives.
I have an external drive and usb's that i can use for backup.

How would I go about doing this?
video tutorial would help.

Solution
You should first perform any hardware changes before you make your transition to Windows 10 via the upgrade path. After you have your SSD installed in your system install windows 7 and have it updated to Service Pack 1. While this is happening it'd be a good idea to connect your HDD so it is recognized as a secondary(storage)drive. The suggested method of installing any OS is to have all your dries disconnected except for the one you plan on installing your OS on.

Only after reaching SP1 will you be eligible for a Windows 10 upgrade. Before you move onto an upgrade to Windows 10 I'd advice you to check and recheck on any BIOS updates and as of late drivers available from manufacturer site.

Speaking of drivers...

Speaking of drivers, can you pass on your full systems specs?

The above suggested route is only so because the hardware specs are bound onto your UEFI alongside the activation key provided with Windows 10 thus any hardware changes need to be done prior to an upgrade Windows 10. If you purchased a copy of Windows 10, then that would be a different story.

Solution

These are the specs.
CPU: i5-4590
GPU: Asus Radeon R9 270 2GB
Motherboard: Asus B85M-E
RAM: (x2) 4GB Corsair Vengeance
HDD: 1TB Western Digital
PSU: Corsair CX 500W
Network Card: TP-Link TL-WDN3800 N600

For the OS windows 7 that is already installed on my hdd. Will i have to delete it once i connect it as a second drive to windows 10?
If yes what will happen to my data?

Regarding hardware:
Make sure you have your BIOS updated to 2305 and that you have downloaded all the latest drivers from Asus's support page. Also make sure you have downloaded the latest AMD GPU drivers from their site. Its best if you can have them stored onto a USB drive for easy access later.

Pertaining to OS:
You could also do a Dual Boot but in your case yes you can delete Windows 7 from your drive but please back up your data onto an external storage device.

Do I really need to update the bios?
Currently my bios version is 0805 (06/01/2014).

Also should i update the bios and drivers before or after upgrading to windows 10?
