So I got an old PC and am planning to upgrade it. This was in an earlier post but my budget went up. Id like to play these games at 900P 40-60FPS:
FSX
ATS
ETS2
OMSI 2
CS:GO
Gmod
Fallout 4 (With Dual Core Mod)
Minecraft
Who's Your Daddy
And others...

My current setup:
Emachines T5224
Pentium D 820
Gateway Coryville D945GCL mobo
GMA950 graphics
1GB RAM
DVD Drive
350W BesTec PSU (To be burned for being such a POS)
Dial Up adapter (To be sold on eBay b/c SOMEONE out there is probably weird enough to buy it)
Some sort of eMachines 17" 720P monitor.

My plan is too run a dual monitor setup with these upgrades, with an AVerMedia HD 2 running from the splitter to the Acer Monitor in the list below. These upgrades good? Ill OC the Core 2 to 3.5 GHz.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66Ghz Dual-Core OEM/Tray Processor ($31.95 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2-667 Memory ($28.54 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($35.98 @ Newegg)
Wireless Network Adapter: Rosewill RNX-N250PC2 802.11b/g/n PCI Wi-Fi Adapter ($20.73 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Acer G227HQLbi 60Hz 21.5" Monitor ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Other: EVGA 750Ti SC ($110.00)
Total: $337.18

My question: Is it possible to get 8GB of RAM into this mobo? It says 4GB max, but these manuals are often lying. Is the max actually 4GB, b/c Ill pay extra for 8

Thanks in advance!

Plus that monitor

Hi,

personally, any money put in this computer is like beating a dead horse; safe the 300 $ to get a core i3 / fx-6300 system.

Now if you still want to proceed, the system you are building should work ok.

First off, the max bus speed on the mobo is 800 where the Core 2 Duo E6700 is running @ 1066 MHz
If it works, it will be slowed down.

I don't think the mobo will accept more than 4 gb ram because, well, let me put it bluntly, emachine are desktop machine not gaming. But you do have a pcie 16x slot.

About the ram you only have 2 slots, and on some website, it's only upgradable to 2 gb max.
also on the cnet review, it says pc2-4200 @ 533 mhz I don't think it is compatible with 667 or 800 mhz.

Cant afford a 6300/860K/i3 build. My budget is basically $250 plus a monitor. Will that Core 2 still handle those games at reasonable settings (720P at high or 1080P at high)? As long as it can do that. This will run Vista and then 10, and while I will be gaming, recording and things like Skype will be done with separate devices. Only the games will be run at once. May also look for a USB 3.0 PCI card for the bottom slot. Anyone know of one?

Also: Monitor swapped for non IPS Acer as the other one went off sale.

Edit: It's tempting to buy EVGA but it's VERY easy to overclock gpus yourself

So this will do for a dual monitor build? 17" one is 720P:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 370K 4.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($51.95 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI A68HM-GRENADE Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($53.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Mushkin ECO2 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($88.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Wireless Network Adapter: Rosewill RNX-N250UBE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wi-Fi Adapter ($15.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Acer G226HQLBbd 60Hz 21.5" Monitor ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Other: Emachines 17" Monitor (Purchased)
Other: Emachines Case (Canibalized from T5224; Other parts will be sold/recycled into something else) (Purchased)
Total: $350.88

Picked EVGA for its vastly superior warranty. They let you paint the cards (fan shroud) without voiding it!

Can I still overclock on that board? I'd like to be able to just toss on a 212 evo when I need to squeeze a bit more power out.
