My boss is upgrading from 98 to xp. His concern is that he has alot of stuff on his hard drive that he doesent want to lose. If you use the upgrade version of xp do you still stand a risk of losing some files? He is getting the full version, and I told him just to buy another hard drive, put xp on it as your master, then make the old hard drive your slave and you could still access the files and programs, but the os would not work as a slave. What do you think of that? He does not want to take the time to back up everything via cd and then reload on a new drive.

That should work. Plus he will have the luxury of moving files at his liesure. I would install the full version tho...most of the problems people have are with the upgrade version.

....WW

Or he can make dual-boot WinXP and 98.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

BTW, you can purchase the upgrade version and do a full install as long as you have the CD from 98. Saves you some money.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
