Yes, it is able to be updated to an SSD but you will need to either clone your current drive to the SSD or do a clean installation of Windows and all your programs. You will want to back up any important documents and files before doing that. If you want to clone your current installation onto the SSD you will need to determine exactly how much space you are currently using on your hard drive and your new SSD will need to be about 25% larger than whatever that number is.

If you have, for example, about 250GB of drive spaced being used on your current HDD, then you will need a 500GB SSD in order to clone it. A 250GB SSD won't have the necessary space.
