Upgraded 8800 gts

I upgraded to hd 8650 from a radeon gts 8800 512 graphics card. I been running wow at 20's fps. Switching graphics cards has not drastically improved my performance. i'm starting to think my amd quad processor is the problem. amd phenomenon 9500 2.2 ghz

you have a slow CPU, that is the problem. Upgrade to a phenom II quad core, your motherboard probably supports it, the first phenoms really sucked. It would have even been bottlenecking your 8800.

I agree 100%. I would also say buy a Phenom II chip. They are much better.
If you want to double check this Minimize when you are in game and the fps is low and have a look at the CPU load.

WoW should run way over 20fps even on that processor. Are you trying to run on Ultra settings? I've gotten more than 20fps on a P4 system.

he upgraded gpu and is seeing no real performance increase, its obviously his cpu. And FYI a dual core P4 D at 3ghz is probably better for wow than a phenom at 2.2ghz. He is probably also talking about his lowest fps, not the average.
