Question upgraded cpu and no display output

hello all
today i replaced the cpu in my pc from an intel pentium 4 to a core 2 quad q6600

when i turn it on there is no display output
(display is coming from amd ati x1650 pro gpu)

the motherboard is asus p5ad2-e premium

ok it appears ive been very unlucky with my choice of motherboard as it only supports single core CPUs

you replaced your Pentium 4 with an older processor !?

the sockets are incompatible 423 or S478 vs S775?
not sure how you managed it without damaging the Core 2 Quad
