I recently upgraded my CPU from the AMD FX 4300 and since then I've been having really bad FPS. Before the upgrade, in Smite I would average 40fps. Now I get around 70 until I do anything and it instantly drops to 15fps and is unplayable.
Temps are never higher 50C.

Any ideas on whats causing this and how to fix it?

VRMs are overheating on that 4 phase 760G board. Attach a fan to the left of the CPU.

That board is an entry level board for 95W CPUs. The 125W power draw is too much for the 4 phase VRM. You can either downclock the CPU to FX 8300 levels or cool the VRMs, but your results may vary.

If attaching a fan does not work,
Disable Turbo. That would most likely work. Leave the fan there.

If not, set clock to 3.6 GHz (BCLK 200, Multi 18.0x) VCore 1.21250V and disable Turbo. These are stock settings for FX 8300, which has a 95W TDP and is compatible with your board.

So changing the motherboard should help? Do you have any suggestions on what would work here because I have no clue. I'm also on a budget of around £60-70

It's a theory that's easy to confirm with AMD Overdrive; if the thermal margins drop close to or below 0°C, then the VRM most likely throttles the CPU (to be expected with that motherboard).
