Upgraded dell

hi all iv just upgraded my dell inspiron1501 from 512 to 2x 1g now all i get is it starting to boot wirling noise lights on but then one light flashes alot and iv got a black screen.pls help im confused as i thouth it was a simple process of taking old out and putting new in ?

reseat your ram and make sure it is the correct ram for the machine

That's something funny about Dells. You gotta do a repair install of the operating system to re-configure the board for the memory.
