Now, I don't know if it's related to the game itself (Assassin Creed: Origins) or the fact that my PC is melting. Yesterday I finally made the jump from 1080p@60HZ to 1440p@144hz. I have a 1080ti so might as well use it properly.

The issue is that on this particular game (I can't fully blame the game, despite its notorious performance), but it's the only one that maxes out the system (over 90% CPU and GPU). The problem is that after a while (every 5-30 minutes of play), the game freezes and I need to kill the process. Task manager indicates 60% CPU allocated, but GPU drops to 0%. In the event manager I see:

Administrative Event:
- Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Application Error:
- One of: "DllHost (14988,G,0) The beta feature EseDiskFlushConsistency is enabled in ESENT due to the beta site mode settings 0x800000."
- Two of: "Fault bucket , type 0 Event Name: LiveKernelEvent Response: Not available Cab Id: 0"

After some google-fu, I see that it's the graphics driver failing, usually due to overheated (not the case) or PSU throttle (please God, hope it's not this). I decided to benchmark, and I get these values: https://prnt.sc/hen7ua

So, I have some theories:
- The game uses VM+Denuvo, which causes erratic behaviour, overstressing all the hardware. Need to wait for a patch, the system is ok
- 650W PSU is 2 years old. Maybe it's failing.
- Faulty GPU (really hope not. It's a few months old and was a gift).

What do you guys think?

Probably not the case, people got to this conclusion without proper testing, just to blame it on Denuvo. There is no proof that VM+ is the cause of poor performance. AC Games have always performed poorly, there is no change for this with Origins.

650W PSU is 2 years old. Maybe it's failing.

Probably not the fault of your PSU either, which brand is it?

- Faulty GPU (really hope not. It's a few months old and was a gift).

In 95% of the cases of a game crashing It's usually software. I wouldn't worry about your components failing yet. More people are experiencing poor performance and crashing in AC: Origins. You are not alone.

Do you play any other games besides AC: Origins, currently?
