it should work if you look at my specs on the 9200c my ram is similar to that also the 60mm fan came with 4 screws that let me seat it right on the heat sink but it barely squeezed in there with how compact my case is but it does its job i get about 55c max when its been running fallout 3/new vegas for a while but the games run buttery smooth on that gtx 750 ti
also the load times in the games last like 2 seconds thank you 840 EVO SSD.

Hi there, I'm new here, but I really need your help. I just started in this upgrading computers thing so I decided that I'd start with my old dell dimension 9200, so I bought a corsair 750 power supply, a core 2 quad q9300 and 8gb 6400 of ram (800mhz), I plugged everything in but once it was done my computer didn't even boot, I dunno what happened, I decided to put everything back in its place but it did not boot properly, it turned on but the cpu fan started to make a lot of noise but the computer itself didn't give me an image on the monitor, it just didn't turn on as it used to

FSB speed on the cpu is 1333mhz and is not supported by your computer you need a cpu with a fsb of 1066mhz or lower refer to my guide above all the cpus are compatible with your computer also you need to have the latest bios update from dell you can find it here:http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=R172927&fileId=2731118877&osCode=WW1&productCode=dimension-9200&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI

Question.. what exactly was wrong with the RAM? Im thinking of upgrading mine to 8gb as well so would be helpful! Thanks!!

Also your crazy SSD speeds are because samsung uses DRAM as cache.. Think of a RAMDRIVE in the days of old. If i remember correctly, i think samsung uses about 1 GB of RAM.

Maarvolo - by put everything back into its place, do you mean the original components? Or the re-seating the upgraded components, etc? If it's the former, something might have gone wrong with the mobo

what exactly are you trying to use your cpu for? also I really wouldn't recommend over clocking if your cpu goes past 70c at load just saying to be safe don't want that hard work going to waste by frying your system make sure you be careful. I personally haven't tried over clocking cpus what are your average temps for your system at load?

@fransezomer thank you. Im gonna do a bit of research for the 9200c regarding the ram and see what's up with it so i dont waste any money...

As for Nvidia drivers, i ended up downgrading mine (on my main PC) to 328.x drivers. My FPS in diablo3 went from the usual 120-180 fps to all over the place from slideshow 10fps to 100 fps. The whole system was a bit of a glitch fest. Maybe it was an isolated reason.. who knows. the fx 8350 + gtx 660 is more than enough to play D3 and most games!

That being said, your crashes sound driver related or some other software related issue rather than "slowness" of the CPU. try checking your logs to see what's crashing

p.s. does anyone know if it is even physically possible to install a second hard drive in the 9200c? (i.e. removing the DVD drive, etc)

Yes it is with a sata power splitter you can have a hardrive and a ssd in at the same time

No, the 9200c and the 9200 have very different motherboards the 9200c has only 2 sata II ports on it and since the power supply only has one sata power cable and a splitter is needed for you to have 2 storage drives inside the Disc drive is a slim mode that uses a tiny power cord for power which is why there is only one cord for sata devices also about your cpu related issues I would avoid cod on pc in general due to the fact the pc ports are often poorly optimized and it probably isn't your systems fault also there is another cpu upgrade avalible for your system I think its the core 2 quad extreme 6800x its 1066mhz I wouldn't dare put it in the 9200c due to the fact my heat sink wouldn't be able to cool that cpu down.

Just finished upgrades on Dimension 9200C (when I run self detect on the DELL page it was showing as a model XPS210) as my friends Vostro 410 just had bricked MB (failed BIOS upgrade) and I got myself nice CPU!

This is what currently is running without any problems:

Q6600 x4 2.40GHz
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB (AHCI Enabled) no problems with AHCI, clean install
8GB Corsair XMS2 Classic (4x2GB) DDR2 800MHz CL5 DIMM (TWIN2X4096-6400C5C)
Gigabyte GeForce 210 Silent 1GB DDR3 (EN210 SILENT/DI/1GD3/V2(LP) - wanted a silent card which include brackets for SFF case. Sorry for typo mistake earlier. The card is not ASUS, it is GIGABYTE.
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

I might add another fan but need to find place for it...

EDIT:
Removed the cage for the HDD as well as HDD Fan
Removed Teac Card/Media Reader
Installed SSD drive in a place of Card/Media Reader. Fits perfect and cables are just long enough.

Looking for solutions to install slim fan or liquid cooling fans there... Just next project if I have time.

Wondering how I can shut down message about failed HDD fan in BIOS but didn't see anything.

sadly its part of the bios so that message doesnt go away unless you can find another fan that's 4 pins and put it on your heat sink maybe ?

I know... Went through all options in BIOS and nothing but I will get another fan anyway (4-pin) and this will be resolved but for now I have to hit always F1... While I was looking for fan I found SSD tray to replace Media Cards Reader in 3.5'' bay that I will get for sure and if it fits, it will be perfect. I am thinking to get an exhaust fan, take it apart and replace fan with another 4-pin one. Also thinking to cut a hole on the removable side and put some silent fan there to improve the circulation there but this will be last option.

Yes, it is 5-socket but it is only 4 pins used and I guess that it has been just an ordinary 4-Pin fan connected there.

I think that anyone of these 4-pin case fans will be working just fine, just do not know if the fan speed is regulated by mainboard or not.

EDIT: BTW do you know how big is CPU fan as I do not want to disassemble everything again?

Yes that is what I was asking for... but is it 92mm or 80mm?

I'm not sure
