Upgrades please help!!

Hey guys
I currently own a gateway lx6810-01
Which i really like
But seems like its not on par with current games anymore

I need advice on how well this upgrades will work

Current specs

Core2quad Q8200
8gb ddr2
Nvidia geforce gt120 1gb
2 500 hdds
Thermaltake smart750 psu

Im looking to upgrate to

Asus strix gtx970 oc
Add a samsung 850 evo ssd
And might upgrade to an intel core 2 quad q9650

Will this upgrades do any performance gains??

Im also planning to upgrade my mobo in the future to an asus x99m ws micro atx but not yet

Will i be able to play some games? Like the witcher 3 with these upgrades???

Those would be good and will be able to take the SSD and GPU with you when you move to X99

I'm just wondering if that core 2 quad would bottleneck the gtx 970. I want to day the core 2 quad is basically the equivalent of an amd Athlon x4 quad.

The 9650s OC very well, I had one I ran at about 4Ghz and yes their might be some bottlenecking, but at the same time, doesn't make sense to get a lower end card just to eliminate a bottleneck now when you are planning to move up to an X99 at which time you will prob want to get something like the 970 - as is you'll have an expenditure on the 9650 which won't be able to move into the X99.

Right, but the op says his system is a gateway of some type it says which means that he may be locked out of overclocking.

The 9650 is still a very big step up from current

I did upgrade to the q9650 and i was able to see a decent improvement after the ssd and cpu upgrades

And yes, sadly i was out of luck with oc
But still a big improvement over the q8200
