I built a pc a while back for gaming on Steam That has served me well and still does, want to upgrade for VR :
Win7 64
m5a99FX pro rev2
AMD FX-6300
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 950 2GB WINDFORCE 2X OC
32Gb ram
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 80+ Gold PS.

I would like to upgrade my Video card and stay with Win7 64. Which is better? Two GTX950's($120-$145 used) or a New GTX1060?
Thanks for your time

Solution
who wants 120$+ and more for a used 950... in Germany you can get one for less then 90$ 😀

For VR to Work you need atleast a 970 or higher, so you would need to go with 1060 6Gb since 950 wont be able to
I am sorry but that PC will not do VR well no matter what you do... You need way to powerful of a card for your CPU to be able to properly utilize. To move forward i would very highly recommend upgrading your whole system, and lastly you cant just buy two 950's because you can not SLI 950's...

After much treading thru all the data I decided to reinstall Win 10, as I tried it when it was free for a day a while back and had not fdisked my system since. It smoothly installed it self for free using the original lic code still hidden all this time. So I now have DX12 with my old GTX950.
Much better than DX9-DX11 Win 7 on my newer games I hate ta say...
Can't afford to build a new system And will have to buy Win 10 when I do. Guess it's time to Cave.
Also found out that the bandwidth loss on PCIe 2.0x16 vs 3.0x16 is only 6 to 8 fps at 1080p! Not much of a bottleneck.
I just ordered a MSI RX580. As the graphics card does almost all the work and will work well with VR Later on.
And for now I may get a stand alone VR headset. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16826910007
I know it's not as good as a SteamVive, but will it run Steam games?????

Thanks for your time guys
