Question Upgrading a prebuild machine

I'm looking for information regarding upgrading a prebuilt macine, as i'm looking ot change from 8gb to 16gb ram.



the machine has 8gb of OEM Ram in a dual channel setup with 2 slots available.



can i just put any 2 x 4gb kit in the machine or am i better replacing the OEM ram as well?

Well, that depends on all the things you've left out.

Like the speed of the memory, the type of the memory, and it's configuration, and your available slots.

I can maybe assume 2x4GB?

If you have 4 memory slots, then you can add another 2x4GB kit. However, it needs to match in speed, timings, and voltage. And type of course.
