am about to purchase a HP 6005 desktop for a gaming experience. I am hopping to upgrade the desktop, since I purchased it for under $50, trouble is I do not know what kind of graphic card would support my desktop. Any advice? Thank You

If you can get free shipping or low shipping on the sites they recommend, try to.

I've heard windows 8 is better for gaming, but I also know windows 7 will be fine to. Win 7 will probably be supported for 5+ years (they'll extend it the same as XP)

Just so you know, I'm not sure how particular you were about game settings.

I looked up some benchmarks:

You can play medium settings/lower resolution with an ok FPS in elder scrolls online

Starwars wanted more, you might have to play that on low.

Titanfall wants quite a bit and I don't think it's playable at all

I need to know your maximum budget with or without an operating system.

Thank you for looking those uo for me, and my current budget is maxed at 280, but as I work I can increase that budget to upgrade more parts.

It might not be the best setup, for minimal graphics and such it will be fine. You will need to get a few aftermarket parts to get that thing running newer games.

I need to know if you need an operating system. If you have something you can use for now, then great. But if you need one, it's impossible for me to build a computer for $280 that also needs a $90 operating system. Just letting you know why I've been asking that so much :)

Well for $280, that's all you can get. If you plan on upgrading it slowly, then I believe intel is the best way to go, since you can add in an i5 later and have a damn nice system. If you go with the fm2+ AMD cpu, you will never get anything as good as an i5 in your system, not even close.

Understand that for right now, your gaming experience will be very bad. You can play elder scrolls on medium and that's about it. With that said, the upgrade order would be:

- 750ti graphics card ($140)
- then another 4gb of ram ($38)
- later you can have an i5 if you want. ($180)

Your power supply isn't meant for anything too heavy. If you have an extra $10-20 now, it would save you from having to get a new on in a year or 2. If when you upgrade the graphics card to the 750ti and you are happy with the performance, then you will be fine with that power supply.

You mean you ordered the $280 build already? (just being clear) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2HR2bv

Make sure you get the exact same model of memory/ram you have now when you upgrade.

Here's some information about the installation process.
