Hi, so i have an old dell pc, and i want to know if it will still boot into win 10 if I change cpu and mobo, I did this with an old phenom pc to an i5 4690k and I had no problems, but I heard that you have to format the hdd to have it work with dell systems (original dell hdd)

Solution
Dell creates their own partitions to store an original copy of whatever OS you had originally. Win 10 will not accept or work with those partitions. But Win 10 should easily remove those partitions and instalI. If it will not then use MHDD to totally erase the HDD and then Win 10 will install easily. You can find MHDD here: http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD

What is the old hardware you are upgrading from?
It might boot, but you will need to reinstall windows if you're changing chipsets.
I don't know what black magic you performed to get a phenom windows installation to work without issues when you switched to an i5.

Also, what kind of problems might someone have from upgrading from a phenom to an i5?

Definitely gonna need a reinstall to ensure stability, unless you truly practice witchcraft.
