Question Upgrading CPU

I have a i5 5500k processor. I’ve noticed if I try running apex and streaming. My CPU usage maxes out and my stream drops to 1 frame. What would be the next upgrade from there? I have 16 gbs DDR4 ram and a 1060 6gb graphics card as well.

Do you mean the Intel i5-6600K?

If so better CPU's for streaming that would fit into that socket would be the 6700(K) or 7700(K) however they can still be quite pricey even in the used market. How much could you spend on upgrading?

Sorry, I meant he intel I5-6600k. The game I was trying to play was apex on medium graphics. Not sure if that helps any.

Hmmm it might be that your bit rate for your steam is waaaay to high. Lower the bit rate and transfer settings and you should be fine.

You could also try streaming using the GPU, may need to lower settings a bit but it should be smooth.

I figured it might be a dumb question. Newish to the PC gaming world. I could spend 300-350 to upgrade if that is needed.

Hmmm it might be that your bit rate for your steam is waaaay to high. Lower the bit rate and transfer settings and you should be fine.

A bit too slow for Ryzen, memory speeds have a big impact on Ryzen. The difference between 2400 & 3200 could be as high as 20 FPS, however you could use it for now and then when you have the extra cash sell that kit and buy a 3200 kit.

Thanks man. I was watching everything on CAM when I was trying to stream and play apex. Memory looked fine, what I noticed was the CPU maxing our continuously

There is a few videos on regards to setting up your OBS, my have a much lower spec PC and my streaming and recording runs good on standard 1080p...your settlings might be setted towards 4k or something that high that rapes the frames. Just browse a few yuutube vids on regards to the settings and you will find a sweet spot.

Curious is that counting streaming? If so what games are you streaming? I remember being able to stream league of legends perfectly. But apex is where I get the problems.

Well i streamed anything that came forward. Dota CSGO Fortnite etc

i5 6600k is still a good cpu. and can do your work fine.
i think there is problem in software side. even my friend's i3 6100 able to stream PUBG at 720p (only at 25 FPS)
