Thanks in advance for the advice everyone! Thinking of upgrading my desktop strictly for 4k gaming (Trying to get more FPS). My setup is listed at the bottom with links (hopefully posted correctly). I would like to know what parts you would upgrade if this was your setup.

Why Am I Upgrading: Just to get increased performance when playing games at 4k. I feel like while my system can play games at 4k, I often change resolution to 1440p to run the game smoother.

Approximate Purchase Date: This week or next week.

Budget Range: $500 - $1,0000

System Usage: Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: No, unless it is a bottleneck. I believe the monitor I have is sufficient for 4k. Maybe I am wrong?

Do you need to buy OS: No, unless I need to upgrade my mobo.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon or Newegg

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Nicholasville, Kentucky USA

Parts Preferences: No preference.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe. Would it significantly boost performance if I added another exact same graphics card? Seems like it is always better to just buy a new more powerful graphics card rather than add a second same video card.

Your Monitor Resolution: 3840 x 2160.

My Current Setup:

Monitor: Acer XB280HK G Sync

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k

GPU: EVGA Geforce 1080 FTW

RAM: G.Skill F3-14900CL9D (4x4GB)

Power Supply: Seasonic Platinum 1000 ATX

MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Hero DDR3 2800 LGA 1150

With games becoming more multi-threaded, dropping in a 4790k isn't bad idea. Ebay is your best bet, most likely there. 4k gaming is doable, with an RTX 2080, but you might have to turn some details down, depending on the title. A 2080ti is outside your budget, and SLI doesn't always work very well, so a second 1080 may not do you much, if any good, depending again on the title.
