Trying to get the best FPS and general performance out of Rust and I'm noticing that most of the guys getting 60-100 FPS are using 16GB RAM while I only manage to get 40-70 FPS with my 12 GB RAM, I even have graphics card that is on par if not better then them. Could this be because of a memory leak or something? I don't really know much about that. I've experienced lots of frame stutters in games like Blade and Soul and also lately Rust as well, if there is a bottleneck or a memory leak at play here I'd like to know if any of you guys knew, or told me how to check it myself.

Relevant specs:
Intel Core i7 4770S 3.10GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 970
12GB RAM (Don't actually know the specific model of this one)

Well I checked and for instance, my memory usage is at 40% (4,9/12 GB while idle and while playing Rust it uses another 3,5GB, what I don't understand is why Rust doesn't use more RAM, most of my friend's that have stable FPS have their rust take up around 5 GB and even though I have the memory to do that as well it doesn't.

Sounds like it may be mixed sticks, what are the model #s (can get using the free app CPU-Z, look in the SPD tab for each slot, should be listed next to part number)? If they are mixed they may not be set up optimally. Look in the Memory tab to see how much total DRAM it shows and if in single or dual mode. Also what OS?

OS is Windows 8.1, I haven't checked the sticks yet, I'll do it when I get on the main computer tomorrow. They should be working fine though as they were in my pre-built ASUS PC that I've only done some upgrading to (new PSU and GPU). Will check CPU-Z tomorrow.

There could be a 3x4gb set. Anyway, if your memory works correctly updating to 16gb won't really make any difference. Since the memory you use should always be below 8gb from what you said.

The real question is why your system consumes so much memory in idle. Maybe there are stuff running in the background. Check your processes.

As for memory it's 798.1 MHz DRAM and in dual mode.
