Upgrading from 4g, need advice

Hi everyone, I currently have 4g of ram and am trying to upgrade to 16.
I have been trying to search around but I am afraid of getting ram that does not match my motherboard and system.
My mother board is:
GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD

Also my processor if it matters

Are there any suggestions on some good ram under 80$ I could request links to?

Ok well, actually, I'm getting rid of my old 2x2g ram. All I want now is to place 16 g in my system. So old ram is gone, what ram should I get? Also will new ram also effect what type of hard drive I can replace my old hard drive with?
