Hi everyone

My old GPU was a Radeon 6850 and upgraded to a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 last night.

Upon installation, there is no video output through DVI or HDMI when starting the computer, not even in BIOS and such.

My motherboard is a MSI P67A-C45
My power supply is an OCZ700MXSP
Processor: 2500K
Ram: 8 GB (4x2)

The power is hooked up to the R9 correctly (1 6-pin and 1 6+2 pin). All the fans on the GPU spin too.

I tried uninstalling the old ATI software/drivers and putting in the new card; same thing.

Put back in the Radeon 6850 and it has fine output

I did the BIOS update through MSI Live and it is the latest.

I do not have another power supply I can try (only a 350 watt one)

I do not have another PCI-express slot i can try

I do not have another computer I can try.

This morning I looked at it again; usually Windows 8.1 upon loading, before entering the password for my computer, the internet would connect. The USB wireless adapter has no green light, so I am assuming Windows 8 doesnt even load since it doesnt even get that far.
Any ideas?

Thank you in advance! I don't know what else to try

If you have no other computer to test the 290 on then a RMA would be a good option. I never seen this problem before and its probably a card malfunction that's causing the loss of those ports. Windows might have hardware conflicts and doesn't even recognize your card causing it not to boot.

That is what I was afraid of too. I wish i could find another thing to test to see if it works, but I am out of ideas

There is nothing wrong with your card. The reason why you're having problems is because your particular Sapphire card requires a minimum of a 750w PSU and you only have a 700w connected to it. You could get another card but until you get a stronger PSU you're just going to have the same problem and if you contact Sapphire they won't help you unless you have a 750W PSU.

Depends... a 600W PSU that's 3-4 years old would probably be closer to like 400-450W. Plus, Sapphire cards requires more power than most others. I still believe that's the problem.
