Yes I know the term "worth it" is very subjective and differentiates between everyone, but I prefer to be smart with my purchases rather than careless. I just wanted to know if YOU guys think the upgrade to a 2080ti is actually worth the $1,200 investment. I already have the money sitting in paypal waiting to make a move but I had second thoughts about if I should wait or just go for it.

Let me also note that the ONLY thing I use my PC for is 1080p rendering and streaming. The only PC games I play at the moment are Borderlands 2, The Division 1 (soon to be 2), MAYBE Anthem if its good, and occasionally Waframe. Other than that I don't really game on PC that much, mostly just rendering and streaming. I do not game at 4K, but I will be receiving an Elgato PCIe Internal 4K capture card soon from a business partner and not quite sure what to expect from it.

A few people have been telling me the 2080ti's ray tracing tech isn't worth it, and telling me to go for the 1080ti instead. I just need some opinions gathered on this. Is it REALLY worth it for me to drop $1200 on the newest and best that's out right now for a 2080ti, or is it not worth that ~30% performance boost from a 1080ti and go for the 1080ti instead?

Here's my rig for your reference.
Intel i7 8700K Factory Clocked
Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler
ASUS PRIME Z370-A
Corsair LPX 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz 2x8GB
Thermaltake SMART 700 Watt Power Supply
ASUS STRIX ROG 1060 6GB
3x WD Caviar Blue 1TB Drive
Samsung Evo 500 GB SSD (OS Installed and some games)

Based on the games you play I would say don't buy one until you start playing more demanding games that require a faster GPU. Not to mention playing at a 1080 resolution is kind of pointless for a card as fast as the 2080ti.

The 1080ti is a great card. The problem is the last few month they've been selling for a premium...sometimes even more than a RTX 2080.

My advice, keep the GPU you have until the games you play are more demanding.
Ray tracing really is not worth it for now atleast the 1080Ti is the bang for the buck in your case. All RTX does is kill your FPS for almost no vision improvement , since you are playing older titles RTX isnt even gonna benefit you in any way

Good point....only problem now is that I CANNOT find any 1080ti's brand new for sale on the market ANYWHERE. And the ones I do are more expensive than the 2080ti. Like bruh.....

1080Ti are more expensive than 2080 cards.
