I'd like to upgrade from my current Asus ATI RADEON HD 5770 to a better graphics card, as I think I can get some more milage out of my PC that way. I'd like to play Ark: Survival Evolved, BF4, and maybe Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. I just downloaded Ark, and it's not running very smoothly, even on the lowest graphics settings, which I attribute to the GPU.

I also do a fair amount of video editing and I'm in the process of ripping my DVD collection.

Current setup:
AMD Phenom II 965BE @3.4
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO USB3:1703
CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB)
ASUS 1GD5 ATI RADEON HD 5770
WD Caviar Black 1tb
Seagate Barracuda 500 gb hd
Antec True Power 650w PS
Thermaltake V9 case
Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Actually, since I built that machine I've traded out the Seagate HD, but that's immaterial to this question. Would it be worth my time to upgrading the 5770, or should I just hold out until I can afford to build a new PC? I can only afford a "budget" upgrade at the moment <$150, or hopefully even less than $100.

Thanks in advance!!

With a budget that small, you're probably better off just looking at used stuff. For 100 bucks or so, you can pick up a 7870 on ebay, and it would be able to run most all modern titles on med settings or better with good framerates.

So, the idea behind the cheaper card is that I would have to replace it when I build a new rig.

What if I stepped up to $200 for the GTX 960? I'm not up to date on current technologies as I just cram/research every few years when I'm building a new machine, but it looks like it uses the same PCI slots and I don't think that's set to change anytime soon.

So my thought is that if I build a new PC in a year or so, I could continue to use this card, right? Or, is there something better at this price range if I step up to $200?
