Hi guys,

So with Christmas coming up and me on the lookout for a present from myself (I've been good this year :bounce: ), I'd like to get a new graphics card. I've had my GTX 670 for the past two years and although I'm very happy with it, I do feel it's starting to hold me back from enjoying certain games (e.g. BF4). My budget is around 350 Euros.

I've read a few reviews and looked at some benchmarks. The 980, although a great card, just isn't justifiable with its performance/price ratio. The 780 Ti is also a great card but at almost 120 Euros more expensive than a 970 I think I'll go with the latter.

I've always stuck with one of two brands: Asus and MSI. Neither cards has ever let me down, but I do feel that Asus's Customer Support is really good where I live. I've also heard great things about Gigabyte's cards.

Would appreciate your opinions on whether my analysis is correct and whether you recommend going for the upgrade.

Here's the card I'm currently looking at:

ASUS GTX-970 STRIX

I'm currently using an Asus P8Z77-V PRO Z77 LGA 1155 motherboard, with an Intel Core i5-3570K. I'm not 100% sure if there will be a bottleneck but any expert advice on this will be appreciated.

I may consider getting a second one in a few months for SLI!

Thanks a lot.

The GTX 970 is the best card IMO on the market that will most likely satisfy most gamer's criteria (able to play at 60FPS on ultra/high).

Regarding brands, it really comes down to your personal experience or preference. Both MSI and Asus are great for Nivida graphics card. Personally, Asus has better cooling and as mentioned better support, warranty and design (doesn't matter much).

If you do proceed with the GTX 970. Keep in mind you have a suitable CPU, PSU and a case that houses it too. :)

Edit: Just saw you edited the post and posted the CPU. You should be fine buddy.

The 3570K can handle 2 980's without bottleneck. I am not 100% sure, but there should be no bottleneck with 1 GTX 970.
You picked a good card,it's one of the best 970's available,I'd take a look at the EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 and the Gigabyte G1 Gaming and see which one you like the best.
What power supply do you have?

Thanks! Can't remember my PSU off the top of my head but will need to check when I get home from work. I read some great reviews of both the EVGA and the Gigabyte cards, but they're out of stock in my local computer shop (by far the cheapest option where I live, including ordering from places like Amazon). I called them up and they said they don't have an expected stock date.

Hi again,

So following on from my earlier post, my PSU is a Corsair AX850 850W. From what I found, it should be sufficient, but I'm not entirely sure. What do you guys think?
