Been stuck with this processor for 8 years, I got a 1660 Super recently, I'm going to be upgrading from the i5 3470 to a i5 9400, do you guys think there will be much of a difference?

Solution
I plan on getting it soon, is there an i7 you would suggest for that motherboard? I'm thinking of upgrading past an i5 9400.
Oh for sure if you have the money for it.
The best CPU for that motherboard is a i9 9900K,which is a beast to say the least.
Below it is a i7 9700K,which is also a decent value for its money.
Then there is i5 9400,a pretty solid gaming cpu.
And the budget option i3 9100.
That are the cpu's i would get for your motherboard.
So if you cant arrange the i9,i would get the i7 9700K.

Can you arrange 10th gen?
Something like a 10400F,shoulb be similarly priced to a 9400,but those extra 6 threads is going to come in handy in the future.
I already bought the motherboard at Christmas, so no it isn't an option. I got the
PRIME H370M-PLUS, as far as I know it doesn't support that. Any other suggestions for that motherboard?

Looked at some videos and the difference between the 9400 and i7 9700k was not nearly as big as I thought so I think I'm going to stick with the 9400. Do you know if there is any performance difference between the 9400 and 9400f? I know one of them has an integrated GPU and the other doesn't, but I can't find any concrete information about whether or not it having an integrated GPU reduces the performance of the processor at all.

That is a very low budget motherboard I would never try to pair a i7 with it. EDIT very low quality Vram and power delivery.

The 9400 should be OK if the board comes with the proper BIOS version to support it.

Well I wasn't about to spend a fortune on a motherboard after how much I've already been spending on top of the processor and windows that I'm getting next week, all the reviews I read say it works good so I'm not worried about it. Considering I'm still using an 8 year old processor and motherboard right now, this will be a welcome change.

That's the one I'm getting and everyone says that it works well.
