Hi, I am going to buy new LCD monitor. I have research & read alot and made a list of what to check before buying my new monitor. I am kinda confuse with so many options available on market. Hope you guys can short list a good monitor for me(actually best in my budget)

I see there are monitors with different resolution, 4k, 2k , 1080p etc

I thought to buy 4K(UHD) monitor but found that most of software's are not scaled to use 4K resolution and my preferred screen size is 22"-24''. So if i am going with such size screen then 4k might be not a good option. Since i need to re scale things to fit in 22"-24'' monitor size. Otherwise everything will look super tiny. And after re scaling i might would not experience 4k quality.

After reading blogs and watching videos. I think 1080p is good option for me if i am going to choose 22''-24'' screen. I read somewhere that 24'' monitor support full HD resolution(1080p).

So please suggest me good 1080p monitor and what should i look before buying it.
Response Time = How much is better?
Contrast = What is this and what is better value?
Color Quality = ?
Ghosting?
Reflection minimizing?
Refresh Rate = 60hz , 120hz, 144hz? I am not hardcore gamer and don't have to play games but i might play few games. Is there any other benifit for choosing higher refresh rate except gaming. Like video editing etc

I want super duper quality.

And what defect can a monitor have. I read there can be dead pixel. What else to see after buying monitor so i do not face any problem later.

My computer Specs:
I5 3570K
16gb corsair vengeance ram
asrock exterme4 z77 mobo
500gb Samsung 850 ssd
Graphic card inbuild Intel 4000 but i will upgrade to dedicated GPU soon(msi nvidia 980 ti)

My budget for monitor is not fixed. Please suggest me best option.

60 FPS will be good enough if you are not an avid gamer.
8ms is OKAY, 5ms is standard, 1ms is for avid gamers.
Color quality - IPS displays are best.
Ghosting - depends on the monitor itself. Refresh rate also plays a role but 60hz is usually good enough unless you play fast paced shooters.
Reflection - get a matte screen to minimize reflections.

You need to have a certain budget. What is the goal? What is the monitor going to be used for?

I did not get any notification about your reply. My use of monitor is for daily task like browsing internet. I would do some video and photo editing. About playing game. I would love to play game if i got time to play. My budget is $250.
I am not sure if i go with higher resolution than 1080p with 24 inch screen. I would have to do scaling and i see scaling is not the best option for it.
Is there any benifit of 120hz+ screen other than gaming.

Because you are getting the 980 Ti, you should really look into 144hz monitors for gaming. They also provide very smooth experience and everything seems fluent. Once you go to 144hz, you never come back to 60hz, BUT if you stay 60hz, you wouldn't care.

This monitor is pretty good. It got cool features, vibrant colors, 1080p, 144hz and 1ms response - perfect for gaming: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HY7PAUC/?tag=pcpapi-20

This one is only 60hz but is 1440p so if you want to up your resolution, this one is good. It's also IPS!
