Question Upgrading from GTX 770, looking for recommendation

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The old GPU bit the dust, I'm looking to replace with an upgrade and I'm not confident with my understanding of hardware compatibility & power usage to pick something without help.

62 amps on the 12 volt rail, power should not be an issue. That CPU will feed a pretty decent GPU today for 1080p, but it is really at the end.
If I was really tied to that platform I would drop an i7 4970k in there if I could find one cheap(one can indeed find them cheap).

I guess the hardest part will actually be finding a GPU. What can you get a hold of? With a little luck and perseverance you should shop around for a 3060. It might take some time. I don't think I would settle for much less. Times are very difficult for finding a GPU listed for a reasonable price.

He has a windforce gtx 770 in it, that is a gigantic card.
Space is unlikely going to be an issue.

It's not worth to put a new expensive GPU in such old machine and especially PCI-e4.0 GPUs. Take a look at a used GTX 1060 6GB or smt. Nothing more because of a CPU bottlekneck in a lot of games with your old quadcore.

Well I had my eye on something like this GeForce RTX 3050 (https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce...0-o8g-gaming/p/N82E16814126556?quicklink=true), but as you can probably tell by the age of my current setup it's been a while since I've shopped hardware and I wanted to check if there was anything I was missing?

As for the CPU, I was actually planning on upgrading that in the next few months, it's just the GPU is the priority since the 770 kicked the bucket and I'm currently running on integrated graphics (which isn't as bad as I thought, but still pretty ugly). So is the 3050 a good idea if I'm planning on switching up to an i7 in the near future?

Also yes space is not an issue, it's a large case

if you into gaming and emulation like yuzu and on you defintly want to stick to nividea vulcan is used on amd cards now days and is very buggy in some games i have amd and im thinking eventuly buying a nividea to get better performance so i dont have to worry bout vulkan

okay,, so downgrade the budget to 350-400 USD

step 1 to stay relevant ... buy an i7 fthat meets your motherboard requiremnets

step 2 buy a 6600 from amd if you prefer Nvidia get a 3050

the 3050 is far weaker but if you have 4 cores you want 8 threads.
check aliexpress 8 threads vs 4 cores ... do this upgrade first.

Anything beyond a 1070 or rx 580 damn even a 570 will be magic once you upgrade your cpu.
