[SOLVED] Upgrading from i5 2400 to i3 10100F or i5 10400F

Planning to upgrade my CPU from i5 2400 to i3 10100F, as I know its a good upgrade but there is Hexacore processor i5 -10400F, and cost 100$ more.
Little tight on budget.

Need suggestion:
Is i3 10100F Quadcore, a good future proof according to Gaming, as I don't change hardware like Motherboard and CPU quickly. I used them for almost 6-7 years.
i5 -10400F is worth, or should I wait for 11th Gen., but rumors says that their prices are higher

What's your suggestions regarding upgrade from i5 2400....

10400F, 6 core / 12 threads would be ideal and imho recommended going forward. Hyperthreaded quads and straight 6 core processors are finding it challenging in demanding titles. 100$ more is worth considering for another four threads improving cpu usage margins.

Another vote for the 10400F. As above 4 core 8 thread can be pushed really hard today, the extra 2 cores and 4 threads I expect will allow the cpu to remain adequate for gaming for much longer.

I have i5-10400f myself, upgraded from i5-4690. You'll gain HUGE performance increase, i can tell you that. 6c/12t is more futureproof.
