I've decided to finally toss this aside and go for something better... I'm not the best when it comes to parts actually in the computer so even after researching on and off the past week I'm unsure what to do.

Current GPU: Radeon HD 5670
PSU: 700w
CPU: Phenom II X4 840

Main usage for gaming and a good amount of video editing.

No real budget limit, however I of course have no interest in spending a grand on a card as that's just silly.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on where to go from here.

Wrong. You'll be able to max out 3/4 of the games out there with the 270x, and the only game you'll be able to maintain a 55-60fps in is Battlefield 4 because of the new Mantle technology integrated into the game. Trust me. I had the card, I know exactly how it runs.

Spend the extra 60 bucks, and get an Nvidia Geforce GTX760 if you want a cheaper card. Puts out more than the 270x by a long shot.

Enjoy 1080p gaming! :)

Well this is wide open.

If you're gaming on a single 1080p monitor then a 270 (OC'd to a 270X) or a 270X will be able to max out most games at 1080p.

It only goes up from there, the more you spend the better your performance, but if you're only running one screen then there's an upper limit--for instance, a 780 Ti will max out Battlefield at higher than 60fps, but a 270X which is drastically cheaper can also max out Battlefield at 60+fps
