Hello everyone,

I've come into my first job since graduating college and would like to make some improvements to my rig, with some of your advice.

My Specs:
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD Motherboard
Intel i5-2500k 3.3GHz Processor
AMD Raedon HD 5970 Graphics card ( have two but really having trouble with crossfire)
G. Skill Sniper Series 8 GB DDR3 1866 Ram
Samsung 840 Pro 500GB SSD
OCZ Agility 120GB SSD
Antec High Current Pro 1200w Power Supply
all in an Antec 1200 V3 Case (plenty of room)

Samsung 2253BW 22" 8000:1 Monitor.

I have been really thinking of getting a new monitor ( running them side by side for work while gaming) and graphics card. I'm looking to spend in the $3-400 Range for a graphics card and $100s- low 300s range for a monitor.

Recommended to me so far has been:

Monitor: Asus VS248H-P 24" HDMI LED backlight 50,000,000:1
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 970

Any advice, thought provoking questions, and insight would be greatly appreciated as I'll be doing this on my own for the first time.

For the price, you cant beat the GTX 970's performance, it will also save you quite a bit on the electric bill vs your dual 5970's currently. I recently upgraded from 2x5850's to a GTX 770, and gained quite a bit of performance in most titles with more modern graphics, and moving away from SLI really helped games seem more smooth, even at equal frame rates (microstutter is horrid).

I love my Asus 27" monitor triplets (3xVE278Q). After a quick search online, I was able to find very nice custom color settings.

I think I would prefer to go with a single card setup because I am not fond of waiting on optimizations, etc.

With the max amount of money you have get these:

I've been on the fence with the jump per value between the 970 and 980. Would there be a noticeable difference if I went with that monitor between the two?

FYI...I overclocked my 970 SSC, and it matches FPS with the 980.

Or perhaps go GTX 970, and 2 of the monitors that anoori9000 suggested:
"ASUS VX248H VX248H Black 24" 1ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 80,000,000:1"
Newegg has them for 42% off currently (until 12/12).

I couldn't personally recommend a GTX 980 for 1080p@60hz single display. But it would leave options to upgrade displays in the future.

I believe thats what I am going to do. I think I'll be getting the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487077 and dual monitoring the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236385 to save a little money for Gsync down the line. Thanks so much for the help.
