Looking to upgrade my graphics card since my current one seems to be reaching the end of its life. During GPU intensive moments - ie spike in in-game particle effects - my screen blacks out followed by a high frequency loop of the last 1s of audio before black screen. The only way to get out of it is to force reboot my system.

My system is quite old (~5yrs), but I'm not in the position to build a completely new rig (ideally this new graphics card can be moved to the new system when I eventually get to it).

Releveant build info:

I've been out of touch with the PC building scene, and was told that a GTX 1060 would be an upgrade + in my price range (<~$300 USD). I don't plan on doing graphically intensive stuff - just some "light" gaming (Dota, Wow, etc) with the occasional triple A games (ie AC origins). I don't NEED to play these on ultra - just something that's not lowest settings.

Would like to verify that:
1) Is this the "best" option going forward, or are there other options in the same range (performance vs price) that's also worth considering?
2) Compatible with my current MOBO?
3) Which 1060 aftermarket cooler company/model line is the "best" one? I've had good experiences with Asus and was looking them first. IIRC the Strix version is the best line? I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $30 on the dual series version though.

Dual series:
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Dual Video Card ($296.89 @ OutletPC)
Strix:
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Strix Video Card ($334.88 @ OutletPC)

So, the 1060 is a good card, so if you dont have a too small of a budget, go for the 1060, 6GB is a lot, and will be able to handle it all. The 1060 3gb will even be good. Anything would be an upgrade from the 2gb you have.

Both versions are at the top of the market right now, you wont get much else for the prices.

Yes it is compatible, the mobo has crossfire support too so no worries. Just make sure your PSU can actually push out enough power if you are gonna go with dual 1060s. And a good cooler company is Arctic, they have a big line of coolers, liquid and regular.
