Upgrading GPU concerns

I want to upgrade from a Radeon HD 6850 to a SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 280X. I am concerned about my low power supply with the stronger card.

There is my complete and current set up. is my 500 Watt sufficient with the new card? I don't plan on doing any overclocking and using only for gaming. Thanks

That PSU is not very good quality. I would replace it with an XFX, Seasonic, or Antec unit. 550-650w is plenty.

It is not the wattage that is important, but the 12v amps. The CX500 can deliver only 38a.

Depending on which R9-280X you pick, there are a large number of unfavorable reviews on newegg.
I might look at a GTX770 or GTX760 which takes less power.

Try a Seasonic or Evga 650 watt PSU. They are high quality and quite cheap!

Can you please explain to me the whole 12v amps only delivering 38a? I see that in the corsair specs, but where do I look for the requirements with the card?
