Upgrading graphics card

Heya guys,

I am going to upgrade my graphics card to a windforce 980ti however all the stuff about pin connectors is confusing me and I just have a few questions about them and some other parts of my computer.

My current PC specifications are:

Corsair Spec 03 case

H81m-plus motherboard

8GB DDR3 RAM

GTX 970 Graphics card

And a 650 watt power supply that I cannot change the cables on.


I want to get this graphics card

That type of GPU needs 2 8pin connectors in order to run, are the cables that come with the GPU 8 pin connectors or are they something else?

If they are the correct cables, can my power supply actually run it? If it is able to, I also have no idea what end of the cable to put into the power supply and what end of the cable to put into the GPU and where I plug it into the power supply.

First time really handling a computer, I just bought my previous one off amazon haha.

If someone can answer this and save me from going insane and buying the wrong thing, that would be great haha. Thanks

it's EVGA B2 a tier 2 psu not far from your budget the cxm is a tier 4 btw

Does it come with the 2 8pin connectors in order to power a 980ti? Or do them 8 pin connectors come with the card its self?

it actually comes with 4 * 6+2 pin and the connector comes from the psu not the card or would you like a tier one for you know, a more peace of mind

As long as I can power the 980ti with 2* 6+2pins then I will be happy , really got no idea about this pin connector stuff..

hold on what's your maximum budget for the psu there's still a better one out there

Rather not spend much more than £515, with the current GPU and power supply it comes to £484 :> If there is a slightly better one that the current one I am looking at then I might buy it

I just go to newegg because it seems cheaper than what amazon sells things for.. On amazon the Windforce 980ti costs like £580.

from what I read here ^^ a better component and protection but tier 2 is still good though can't go wrong with that
