Good afternoon all

I have an X570 Aorus Master with a 3700X. Yesterday I finally updated the BIOS, moving from F11 to F38. After some hiccups, everything is now running normally.

My primary drive is an Aorus M.2 drive with a 256GB capacity, which is far too small. My OS is Windows 10.

The twist is that when I go into BIOS to disable CSM and turn on Secure Boot, I cannot then boot into Windows - it just takes me straight into BIOS. I believe that this is because my current Windows installation is a legacy/MBR installation rather than a GPT/UEFI installation.

I want to install a new primary drive (likely a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB) and put a clean Windows 11 install onto that drive. I will remove the existing Aorus drive altogether.

(I also want to upgrade the 3700X to a 5700X, hence the BIOS update rather than just enabling TPM).

Can anyone advise me of the steps required for a smooth drive/OS installation, bearing in mind the CSM/Secure Boot issue?

Thank you for your time, as always.

Make sure you reset the fTPM key after you drop in the new processor.

Recreate your bootable USB installer for Windows 11, remove all drives off your platform except for the one that you intend to install the OS onto, set CSM to disabled in BIOS, then install the OS onto your larger SSD.

IMHO, I'd just format(removing all partitions off of) the smaller capacity SSD and install Windows 11 on it. On that note, by small, what else do you have installed on your 256GB drive besides the OS? If the platform is meant for gaming, then the larger SSD can be used as your game library, while the OS, app's and launchers are all installed on the smaller drive.

Lutfij, thank you so much for your reply.

Forgive my very basic follow-up questions. I assumed that the F38 BIOS update enabled TPM by default. Are you familiar with the Aorus motherboards? I will have to research that point.

Thanks for the step by step installation instructions, they are a big help.

Good idea on formatting the drive. My preference is to keep only one internal drive and use an external drive as a back-up. I game fairly rarely, and the only game I play from time to time is WoW. I will think about this a bit more!
