Hi everyone,

I am planning on upgrading memory on my laptop.

Specifications:
- MSI
- 8GB DDR3 (1x8GB)
- Intel Core i7 4700HQ Processor
- GeForce GTX 860M(2GB)

I am planning to add another 8GB.

Which on them is better?
Current 8GB is single channel is it possible to upgrade two-channel or it has to be single-channel?

What model is your motherboard? You will be able to add another stick of RAM to enable dual channel, but its best to use exactly the same RAM that you have in already, mixing different brands can cause problems. Also what is the exact model of RAM that you already have?

Hi,

Motherboard:
- Model MS-16GF
- Chipset Intel Haswell

How can I identify RAM brand without actually looking inside? If I will, warranty will void.

So if I add another 8GB it will because dual memory?

thanks

sorry I misread your post and didn't realise it was a laptop, do you know what CPU (processor) it has?

Cpu-z SPD tab - part number will give you exact ram specs.
