So i have a msi h110m gaming mobo and g4560 cpu and in order to get them to work together i first need to upgrade the bios version of the motherboard with another cpu. So a friend of mine is going to give me his i3-6100 to get this done. Now my question is when putting his cpu in my mobo do i need to put the cooler and the thermal paste as well since it really is just a 5 minute long procedure?

Solution
Yes, you need to install the CPU cooler. Don't want to have the board overheat and shutdown in the middle of the update. They you would really have a door stop motherboard.
